ROCHELLE — Betty Skretteberg, 97, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Manor Court in Rochelle IL. Betty was born to Herman and Hazel Reineck on February 19, 1927 in Algoma, Wisconsin. She loved helping her parents in the cheese factory that they owned. She married the love of her life Paul A Starns on February 23, 1945. She lived most of her life in Rochelle and eventually moved to Austin, Texas with her husband Paul in 1976. She lived there until his passing in April of 1985. Betty eventually moved back to her hometown of Rochelle where eventually she remarried. She loved her family and many grandchildren. She loved the outdoors, cooking, music and always was up for an adventure. Anyone that knew her was sure to love her. She always had a smile on her face. 

She is survived by her children Paula Pest (David) of Rochelle, IL , Pamela Lay (Lonnie) of Cedar Creek, TX, Sister Marlene Scoggins (Charlie) Sister in Law Maxine Reineck, daughter in law, Marilyn Starns, six grandchildren, Stephanie Pest, David Pest (Robin), Kristin Starns, Chad Starns (Crystal), Robert Starns and Aaron Lay. 2 great grandchildren, Trevor Pest (Michelle)and Foster Pest (Ashley) along with 2 great, great grandchildren Charlotte Pest and Sawyer Pest. Along with many loved nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband Paul, Betty was predeceased by her son, Dennis Starns, sister, Harriette Kubale (Bill), brother, Joe Reineck (Maxine), brother, Wayne Reineck, sister, Alice Reineck, sister, Audrey Reineck, brother, Ray Reineck (Norma), brother, Milt Reineck (Hester), brother, Hollace Reineck (Gertrude), sister, Bulah Young (Loran), sister, Laverne Duran (Cruz) 

No services are scheduled at this time.  A private burial with family will be held at a later date.
