WESTMINSTER, Col. — Steve Troop, 75, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Westminster, CO.

Steve, born in Rochelle, IL, on August 1, 1948, was a dedicated police officer and a beloved family man. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. After his military service, Steve embarked on a fulfilling career in law enforcement, starting as a McDonough County Deputy Sheriff from 1972 to 1974, then serving with the Arvada Police Department from 1974 to 2000, where he held the ranks of Police Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He later worked at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office from 2006 to 2016 as a non-sworn accreditation manager.

Steve's devotion extended beyond his profession, as he was a devout Catholic who worshiped at the Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church in Arvada, CO. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, loyalty, and patriotism.

Steve is survived by his wife, JoNell Kathleen Troop, daughter Shannon Williams (Drew) and grandchildren Gavin and Harper. He is also survived by his brother, Rick (Penny) Troop, sister Cynthia (Michael) Montoya, brother-in-law Bryan (Robin) Stewart, and their respective families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Connie) Troop and in-laws Joe Bryan (Betty) Stewart.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church in Arvada, CO, followed by a reception. Military honors and internment will take place at 2:30 pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities, Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church, or Saints Peter and Paul Catholic STEM School in Wheat Ridge, CO.

The Newcomer Funeral Home in Lakewood, CO, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
