STEWARD — Rose Marie Larsen, 92,  passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on June 2, 1931, in Steward, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Carmen (Lamb) Miller. She married Lawrence “Bonez” Larsen on July 23, 1950 in Steward, IL, he preceded her in death on May 8, 2008. 

If you asked her, Rose would say she was blessed in every facet of her life.  She worked as a nurse at the Rochelle Community Hospital. She was an active and involved member of the Steward United Methodist Church. She enjoyed photography, gardening, and tending to her flowers. She was a very social woman who loved spending time at the Hub City Senior Center. Rose will be remembered as the quintessential matriarch. She loved and cared for each and every member of her family, including her furry children, Dixie and Toby. 

Survived by her daughter, Sherri Salsbury; daughter-in-law, Nancy Larsen; special family friends, Jeff (Gail) Myers and Annie Garland; brother, Daniel “Sonny” Miller; ten grandchildren, Eric (Leala) Moen, Rachel Geske, Lars (Sheila) Larsen, Shana (Dan) Engelkes, Loren Larsen, Dan (Connie) Salsbury, Linda (Orrie) Samp, Megan (George) Becker, Carmen Larsen, and Brent (Prity) Salsbury;  many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Ralph Papke. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Rose is preceded in death by three sons, Curtis, Michael and Craig; and a daughter, Lisa Annette. 

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle. 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Steward United Methodist Church with Pastor Il Han You officiating. Interment will follow in Steward Cemetery.
