ROCHELLE — Arline L. Thompson, 93, passed away peacefully with family by her side Monday, April 8, 2024 at The Meadows in Franklin Grove, Illinois.  Arline was born on December 10, 1930 to Elmer A. and Cecil I. (Ford) Payne in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  On May 7, 1977, she married Roger Thompson in Rochelle.  He preceded her in death on April 13, 2018.

Arline lived in Rochelle all of her adult life and was a life long member of First Baptist Church in Rochelle.  She took great pride in her family and enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life.

Arline is survived by her children: Rick (Carla) Meador of Queen Creek, AZ, Jim Meador of Rochelle, Phillip (Barbara) Meador of Oregon, IL, Carolyn (Steve) Koontz of Livingston, MT and Shirley (David) Crenshaw of Coeur d’Alene, ID; step children: Alan (Sue) Thompson of Rockford, IL and Dr. Karen (Brian O’Donnell) Thompson of Taveres, FL; brother, Clyde (Doris) Payne of Oregon, IL; eleven grandchildren: Vickie (Chris) Futterer, Kelly (Jennifer) Koontz, Amy (Charlie) Jarman, Brandon Meador, Jessica (Cole) Rainwater, Danielle (Chris) Brooks, Tori (Nick) Pohl, Brittney (Jason) Barnett, Nathan Meador, Ryan (Lindsey) Thompson and Mallory (Christopher) Finan and 19 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arline was predeceased by her brother, Donald Payne and sisters: Velma Smith and Arline’s identical twin, Maxine Brown.

The visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 19, 2024 at the First Baptist Church, 810 Woolf Court, Rochelle with Pastor Doug Cowan officiating. There will be an additional visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the church.   Burial will follow the service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.  Memorials may be made in Arline’s memory to the Hub City Senior Center or the First Baptist Church.
