ROCHELLE — Zeferino Belmonte, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 in his home. Zeferino was born on Aug. 24, 1922 to Tomas and Cayetana (Hueramo) Belmonte in Michoacan, Mexico. He married Guadalupe Escutia in Michoacan, Mexico.
Zeferino is survived by his three children, Adelfo (Juana) Belmonte of Rochelle, Tomas (Sherry) Belmonte of Georgia, and Oliva (Manuel) Hueramo of Michoacan, Mexico; grandchildren, Eric (Sonya) Belmonte, Maribel (Yunior) Nava, Gonzalo (Jeanie Koo) Belmonte, Hugo (Alison Kennedy) Belmonte, Cesar (Bibiana) Belmonte, Maria G. (Manuel) Hueramo, Luen (Misael) Milan, Dalila (Will) Gagnon, Adrian (Heather) Belmonte, Xittaly (Jesus) Belmonte and other grandchildren in Mexico; great-grandchildren, Michael, Mario, and Marissa Belmonte, Soledad Celeste, Cruz A. and Obie D. Nava, Viviana and Marco Belmonte, Maria, Azaneth and Aleyda Milan, Lizbeth and Giovanni Hueramo, Ivan, Daniela and Aaliyah Belmonte, Will and Benjamin Gagnon, Everrett, Preston and Brooklyn Belmonte; great-great-granddaughter, Ivanna Belmonte and many extended family.
The visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., in Rochelle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 207 Kelley Drive, Rochelle with Father Ruben Herrera officiating
Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial is to be established.
