ROCKFORD — Ruth Ann (Kingsbury) Fell, 91, formerly of Rochelle, passed away peacefully at her home in Rockford, Illinois on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.  Ruth was born on July 12, 1932 to Ralph K. and Gladys V. (Johnson) Kingsbury in Grand Junction, IA. On July 10, 1953, she married Kenneth Fell in Fort Riley, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2010.

Ruth served the community of Rochelle as a school bus driver and a volunteer at the schools.  She retired after many years from the dietary department at H. Douglas Singer Mental Health.  Post retirement, she served the Rockford community as a Home Care Aide for Community Care.

Hobbies included sewing, embroidering, gardening (especially her flowers) and baking. She will always be remembered for her infamous carrot cake, and caring for her family.

Ruth is survived by three children: Diane (Clayton Baxter) Harris of Spring, TX, Dawn Fell of Bartow, FL and Denise Moser of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Autumn Fell of Madison, WI; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ken, Ruth is also preceded in death by her first husband, Keith Maxwell Leigh; three children: Kenneth Douglas Fell, Debra Ann Morlen and Darcy Jo Near; son-in-law, Tom Harris; four brothers: Ralph, James, Bernard and Charles Kingsbury and three sisters: Latola Snook, Marie Wiltse and Bernetta DeShazo and her favorite pet, Toby.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  Private family graveside service at White Rock Cemetery.  A memorial will be established.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
