ASHTON — Ronald A. Dinsmore of Ashton, IL, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Rochelle, IL.  Ron was born on September 27, 1941 to Russell E. and L. Girtrue (Fightmaster) Dinsmore in Sycamore, IL.  On March 4, 1961, he married Dorine Kidder in Belvidere, IL.

Ron’s love for Christ began when he accepted Jesus Christ when he was 9 years old.  He grew up in Sycamore as the 2nd child of Russell and Gertie.  When he was in 5th grade, he moved to Belvidere.  After graduating from Belvidere High School, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Dorine. They started dating when they were Sophomores in high school.  He was part of the Youth for Christ Quiz Team, which began his love for the Bible.  Ron attended Moody Bible Institute where he graduated with a Christian Education diploma. He taught many Sunday school classes and was in church leadership most of this adult life.  His life revolved around his relationship with Christ, serving and volunteering in any way he could, in the church, community and with Gideons International.  He took many short-term mission trips to a missionary school in Guatemala to work on the school’s infrastructure with his many skills in the building trades.  He also went to New Orleans to help with the Katrina Relief Efforts.  He was a faithful member of Grace Fellowship Church in Ashton.  Ron was a loving, dedicated, and faithful husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa.  He cherished spending time with his family and he spent his time making life better for those around him.  In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, vacationing with his family and serving as a volunteer fireman in many of the communities that he resided. He always loved working and tinkering with home repair projects for his family and many others.  Ron’s profession was working for Air Products & Chemicals for 30 plus years as a plant superintendent.

Ron invested his time in family and is loved by his wife of 62 years, Dorine Dinsmore of Ashton; three children: Steve and Brenda (Feher) Dinsmore were married in 1986 and Brenda was deceased in 2006. Then Steve and Leslie (Cooper) were married in 2014, and Leslie was deceased in 2022 of Washburn, WI. Kevin and Ami (Lackos) were married in 1993, and Ami was deceased in 2021, of Loxahatchee, FL.  Cindy and Jim LaBorn were married in 1995 of Westmont IL. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Dinsmore.

The visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Grace Fellowship Church, 2128 IL Rt. 38, Ashton, IL.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 29 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Road, Rochelle with Pastor Jeff Ardissone officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, IL.  Memorials may be made in Ron’s memory to The Gideons International.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
