ROCHELLE — Lawrence Paul Hagemeyer was born March 19, 1947 in Rockford, IL. Growing up on a farm with seven siblings, he learned the importance of hard work. Throughout his life, Larry was often found with his toolbelt on, quietly at work doing what needed to be done or finding a solution to a problem.

After graduating from the University of Illinois and obtaining a Masters of Engineering Administration degree from Bradley University, he spent almost fifty years working at Dial as a mechanical engineer. When he wasn’t keeping things running at the plant, he volunteered at the Oswego High School theater department. He constructed a floating turntable, “Big” piano and too many ladders and assorted stage pieces to count! He liked to golf with his friends and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many musical and sporting events. He could often be found with a coffee cup in hand, quietly observing the scene in front of him, ready to talk about farming or water processing.

He is survived by his brothers: Earl (Bonnie) and Roland (Erlinda) Hagemeyer, and sisters: Joan (Ron) Hawk, Linda Egeland and Mary Ellen Herring, along with three sons: Brent (Cynthia), Shawn (Beth) and Darin (Emma) Hagemeyer and eight grandchildren: Conner, Grace, Abigail, Teagan, Lyla, Braden, Eliza and Rylan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie & Gertrude Hagemeyer and siblings Keith and Donna Hagemeyer.
