YORKVILLE — The Hubs track and field team competed at the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference Championships this past Friday, with the fresh-soph boys placing seventh and the varsity boys finishing 10th. Rochelle will battle in the IHSA Class 2A Sectional at Genoa-Kingston on Friday at 4 p.m.
Varsity
Seniors Ben Pflipsen and DiQuan Ishmon placed 19th and 20th in the 100-meter dash with respective times of 12.77 and 13.16 seconds. Junior Connor Lenkaitis finished 12th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.57 and sophomore Tucker Louis took 15th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:29.23.
Junior Ryan Friestad finished 10th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.21. Rochelle’s 400-meter relay team placed eighth with a time of 47.01 behind juniors Eddie Villalobos, Greg Ricketts, Noah Knight and senior Austin Tracey. Rochelle took seventh in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 3:47.34 behind Villalobos, sophomore Gyvanziel Quinonez, Lenkaitis and Tracey.
Senior Bazil Bennett placed sixth in the discus with a mark of 126 feet while taking 12th in the shot put at 40-0 ½. Junior Mason DeLille finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 40-5 and 12th in the high jump with a clearance of 5-4. Pflipsen was 15th in the long jump at 15-0 ½.

Sophomores Zach Akey and Parker Hale finished 15th and 16th in the 100-meter dash with times of 12.87 and 13.27 respectively. Sophomore Evan Horner finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.96 while Quinonez took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.78. Louis placed ninth with a time of 2:20.90.
Sophomore Santi Cordoba placed 12th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:22.82 and ninth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:37.27. Freshman Trevor Goodwin took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.49 and ninth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.71. Sophomore Jacob Eul was 12th in 59.81.
Rochelle’s 400-meter relay team of sophomores Aaron Vondergathen, Riley Patrick, Ben Hickey and Horner placed seventh with a time of 51.10. Rochelle finished fifth in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:07.83 behind Horner, Hickey, Eul and Akey. Sophomore George Rodriguez took 12th in the shot put (32-4) and 14th in the discus (82-9).
Hale placed ninth in the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet and Goodwin took 12th in the long jump with a leap of 16-7 while Patrick was 15th at 15-11 ¾. Goodwin placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 37-3 ½ and Patrick took third at 33-9.
