ROCHELLE — Doug Johnson, 70, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford. He was born Dec. 29, 1947 in Belvidere, the son of Glenn Warren and Nova Mae (Hegberg) Johnson. He married Kathleen Brown on July 27, 1969, in Steward.
Doug left an emptiness in the lives of those closest to him. This, of course, is a tribute to his unconditional love. No longer can we drop by to the door that was always open, or call seeking the advice he was always willing to give. Without hesitation, he would give you the shirt off his back, wanting and expecting nothing in return. While the emptiness in our lives will slowly start to fade as we adjust to this harsh reality, the love and fullness in our hearts will last forever.
Doug is survived by his wife, Kathy; three children, Duane (Regina) Johnson, Brian (Bonnie) Johnson and Shanna Johnson; five grandchildren, Larry Barnes, Jeffery Johnson, Brooke Johnson, Douglas Johnson and Zachary Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Liam Mathey, Zoey Barnes and Levi Mathey; and seven siblings, Randy Johnson, Larry (Phyllis) Johnson, Richard (Phyllis) Johnson, Keith Johnson, Kristi Johnson, Jana (Randy) Haeffner and Brad (Melanie) Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by a brother, Ross Johnson.
