FREEPORT — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team traveled to Pretzel Stadium for the annual Freeport Invitational on Friday evening, finishing fourth out of five teams with 47 points. The Lady Hubs will host a coed meet with Ottawa and LaSalle-Peru on Tuesday evening.

Senior Kyra Bivins led the Lady Hubs in the field events, winning the discus throw with a mark of 30.51 meters and taking third in the shot put with a heave of 9.10 meters. Junior Erin Murphy finished second in the shot put with a heave of 9.35 meters and junior Dempsey Atkinson took second in the high jump with a leap of 1.42 meters. Sophomores Kyrie Cragin and Samantha Overton finished third and fourth in the pole vault with respective clearances of 1.98 meters.

Sophomores Annaliese Koziol and Rose Luxton led Rochelle in the distance events, with Koziol finishing the 3200-meter run in 14:09.74 for second place and Luxton clocking in at 6:07.95 to take seventh in the 1600-meter run. Sophomore Kyrie Cragin was Rochelle’s lead hurdler, placing fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.90 seconds and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 58.42 seconds. Senior Kylie Smith turned in Rochelle’s strongest finish in the sprinting events on Friday night, taking fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.42.

Sophomore Mary Chadwick finished 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:57.06. Freshman Elyse Manning took eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.08 seconds and sophomore Katie Toczylowski finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.95 seconds.

The Lady Hubs took second in the 3200-meter relay (Rose Luxton, Mary Chadwick, Brisa Zepeda and Carmela Bright) with a time of 12:10.91 and fifth in the 1600-meter relay (Kylie Smith, Kyrie Cragin, Jasmine Walsh and Carmela Bright) with a time of 4:38.04. Rochelle placed fifth in the 800-meter relay (Valerie Saldana, Arline Villanueva, Reese Kissack and Katie Toczylowski) with a time of 2:03.64 and fifth in the 400-meter relay (Valerie Saldana, Zoe White, Elyse Manning and Kylie Smith) with a time of 56.27 seconds.
