ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub track and field team hosted the 47th Annual Hub Relays at Rochelle Township High School on Saturday afternoon, finishing third out of eight schools with 101 total points. Rochelle’s top relay performances on the day included a second place in the 3200-meter relay (Irving Escalante, Pedro Rosales, Luis Hernandez and Caleb Wyssbrod) with a time of 8:51.19 and a second-place finish in the 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay (Wyatt Worthington, Kenny Overton, Hunter Bivins and Eliud Lombardia) with a time of 1:15.25.

The Hubs took fourth in the 800-meter relay (Jackson Smith, Nathan Sergeant, Virgil O’Dell and Caleb Wyssbrod) with a time of 1:36.91 and sixth in the 400-meter relay (Markevion Cooper, Jackson Smith, Virgil O’Dell and Nathan Sergeant) with a time of 46.46 seconds. Rochelle finished sixth in the 6400-meter relay (Abel Huerta, Levi Waddle, Declan McGee and Luis Hernandez) with a time of 25:45.23 and seventh in the 1600-meter relay (Irving Escalante, Caleb Wyssbrod, Jackson Smith and Christopher Hickey) with a time of 4:00.92.

The Hubs took fifth in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay (Irving Escalante, Jack Tilton, Christopher Hickey and Elijah Mayen) with a time of 4:11.71 and sixth in the 4000-meter distance medley relay (Declan McGee, Diego Salazar, Elijah Mayen and Luis Hernandez) with a time of 12:33.94. In the field events, sophomore Andrew Nuyen won the pole vault with a height of 4.27 meters and junior Jack Tilton won the high jump with a clearance of 1.83 meters.

Senior Nathan Sergeant took third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.18 meters and junior Markevion Cooper finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 5.49 meters. In the throwing events, senior Landon Mickley placed fourth in the shot put with a heave of 13.82 meters and junior Jack Tarvestad finished eighth in the discus throw with a distance of 35.60 meters.

The two open running events were the 300-meter hurdles and the 3200-meter run. Sophomore Wyatt Worthington finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.83 meters and senior Luis Hernandez took ninth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:10.19.

Rochelle fielded three relays at the fresh-soph level during Saturday’s meet. The Hubs won the 800-meter relay (Caden Goodwin, Reece Harris, Aaron DeClerck and Justin DeClerck) with a time of 1:37.26 and took second in the 400-meter relay (Caden Goodwin, Reece Harris, Aaron DeClerck and Justin DeClerck) with a time of 46.40 seconds. Rochelle finished third in the 1600-meter relay (Caden Goodwin, Pedro Rosales, Aaron DeClerck and Wyatt Worthington) with a time of 3:48.84).
