The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team brought home its first Interstate 8 Conference win of the season on Friday evening, when the purple and white hit the road and swept all three of their doubles matches during their match against the Kaneland Knights.

MAPLE PARK — The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team brought home its first Interstate 8 Conference win of the season on Friday evening, when the purple and white hit the road and swept all three of their doubles matches during their match against the Kaneland Knights.

Rochelle overcame a pair of singles losses to hand Kaneland a 3-2 defeat. The Hubs (3-2, 1-2 Interstate 8) took all three doubles matches, with senior Parker Lenkaitis and sophomore Mark Green scoring a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep at the No. 1 court. Sophomores Philip Winters and Caleb Mortensen delivered clutch points in a 7-6(5), 7-5 win at the No. 2 court, while seniors Austin Raleigh and Alex McBride showed dominance in a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 court.

Senior Jimmy Chavez took four games in a 4-6, 0-6 loss at the No. 1 singles court and freshman Connor Hunley played a close second set in a 1-6, 4-6 loss at the No. 2 singles court. Rochelle will return to its home court on Monday evening, when the Hubs face Freeport.
