STERLING — The Rochelle girls tennis team and Newman Central Catholic collided at Sauk Valley College on Thursday, with the Lady Hubs falling by a score of 5-0 to move to 2-11 overall.
Senior Ruth Gardner fell 0-6, 0-6 against Avery Meyer at No. 1 singles, while junior Anna Guevara took four games in a 1-6, 3-6 loss to Sarah Tunink at No. 2 singles. Sophomores Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young claimed two games in their 2-6, 0-6 loss against Sydney Schott and Madalyn Ryan at No. 1 doubles.
Junior Sawyer McGee and sophomore Emma Hicks won one game in their 1-6, 0-6 loss to Brynlee Hermeyer and Marisol Schalk at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Margaux DaCosta and senior Avri Olsen took three games in their 0-6, 3-6 loss to Maddy Verdick and Maggie Oswalt at No. 3 doubles.
