ROCHELLE – A Rochelle Police squad car was involved in an accident near Walgreens on Oct. 14.
At 8:40 a.m., a Rochelle squad car was responding to a call, traveling northbound on Seventh Street when he crossed the intersection against the light. The officer had his lights on when crossing, but the civilian traveling eastbound on Jones Road did not see the officer and they collided in the intersection.
No injuries resulted from the crash.
Illinois State Police were called to handle the scene because a Rochelle Police Department officer was involved in the crash. State police cited Paul Priester, 57, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
The Rochelle squad car received damage to the front driver’s side quarter panel.
