ROCHELLE — The choir department at Rochelle Township High School held its second annual choir banquet to celebrate all of the accomplishments of the choir students during the school year.

Several awards are given, including the National School Choral Award, Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, and the Willard “Bill” Gieske Musicianship Service Award.

Choir director Cory Jones said in addition, several student-voted awards are given. These include Outstanding Spirit awards, Leading By Example Award, and the Good to Great Awards that acknowledge most-improved students in each choir.

“The banquet was designed to be a celebration and to be fun so we also have funny awards like ‘Most Likely To Not Have a Pencil’,” Jones said. “There is also a coloring contest for the young kids that attend along with activities where everyone in attendance gets to participate.”
