CHAMPAIGN — The IHSA State Championships resumed on Friday, with all four Rochelle Hub varsity wrestlers scheduled to take the mat.  Action kicked off on Thursday and will conclude with the finals on Saturday night.

Junior Kaiden Morris (41-3) defeated Jacksonville's Oliver Cooley in the semifinals of the 215-pound bracket, scoring an 11-5 decision to become Rochelle's first state finalist in two years. Morris will face Elmhurst IC Catholic's Michael Calcagno in the finals Saturday evening.

Junior Xavier Villalobos (42-2) battled Troy Triad's Colby Crouch in the semifinals of the 126-pound bracket, falling by 14-4 major decision. Villalobos will compete in the consolation semifinals on Saturday.

Senior Brock Metzger (35-8) defeated Hinsdale South's Alec Miller with a 5-3 sudden victory in the first consolation round of the 190-pound bracket. Metzger wrestled Lombard Montini's Jaxon Lane in the second consolation round, falling just short by 3-2 decision. Metzger finishes his career as a two-time state qualfiier.

Junior Grant Gensler (37-8) fell against Fenton's Jovany Zuniga in the first consolation round of the 165-pound bracket. Gensler concludes his season as a state qualifier for the second time in three years.
