Local athletes record top finishes in freestyle and greco competitions

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS — The Forge Wrestling Club sent several athletes to the 2024 Saint Viator Development Freestyle & Greco-Roman tournaments on Sunday, April 7. Seven athletes wrestled in the greco-roman tournament and eight competed in the freestyle tournament.

Greco-Roman

Roman Villalobos finished first in the 16U 175-188 Division with a 2-0 record, scoring a 10-0 technical fall over Fox Lake’s Aaden Arroyo and a fall over ISI’s Michael Junitz. Nehemiah Andronic finished first in the 10U 67-71 Division with a 2-0 record, notching an 8-0 technical fall over Team El1te’s Lukas Lovelace and a 9-0 technical fall over Brunson’s Alexander Schutt.

Will Julian took second in the 16U 154-155 Division with a 2-1 record, earning falls over Bryan Parrish and The Wrestling Academy’s Samuel Cushman. Jacksyn Windham took second in the 14U 176-195 Division with a 1-1 record, scoring an 8-0 technical fall over Dixon’s Sean Seibel. 

Rowen Villalobos took second in the 10U 73-83 Division with a 1-1 record, earning an 8-0 technical fall over Barrington’s Jacob Hatfield. Brenden Voight placed third in the 16U 162-163 Division with a 1-2 record, scoring a 12-1 technical fall over Fox Lake’s Jameson Soco. Hadley Losoya placed third in the 16U 132-138 Division with a 1-2 record, securing a fall over ISI’s Blake Martin. 

Freestyle

Brenden Voight finished first in the 16U 154-162 Division with a 3-0 record, scoring 10-0 technical falls over Fox Lake’s Erik Rodriguez and Built by Brunson’s Jeff Han before earning a fall over The Wrestling Academy’s Joe Quirk. Will Julian finished first in the 16U 151-154 Division with a 3-0 record, earning falls over Alpha Wrestling Academy’s Raymond De La Garza and ISI’s Griffin Gunther before scoring a 10-0 technical fall over Brawlers wrestle Coen McGill.

Hadley Losoya finished first in the 16U 135-138 Division with a 3-0 record, compiling a fall over Plainfield Elite’s David Lany as well as a 15-10 decision over Built by Brunson’s Brayden McCabe and a 10-0 technical fall over Relentless Training Center’s Carlos Aldaco. 

Roman Villalobos finished first in the 16U 183-215 Division with a 3-0 record, earning a fall over Fox Lake’s Aaden Arroyo as well as a 11-0 technical fall over Brawlers wrestler Brayden O’Connor and a 14-2 technical fall over Notre Dame Wrestling Club’s Sean Cook.

Nehemiah Andronic finished first in the 10U 65-71 Division with a 3-0 record, scoring a 12-8 decision over Built by Brunson’s Hrystoffer Radev as well as a 10-0 technical fall over Notre Dame Wrestling’s Max Marti and a 12-2 technical fall over Built by Brunson’s Alex Schutt.

Cammyla Macias took second in the Junior Girls 126-136 Division with a 2-1 record, securing falls over BTS-Chicago/Midway’s Jacqueline Soon and Oswego Wrestling’s Brooke Coy. Jacksyn Windham took second in the 14U 174-195 Division with a 1-1 record, scoring a 13-2 technical fall over Dixon’s Sean Seibel. Rowen Villalobos took second in the 10U 73-87 Division with a 1-1 record, earning a 14-4 technical fall over Vernon Hills wrestler Diana Baranova.
