Wreaths Across America ceremonies were held at five local cemeteries on Dec. 16 & 17. Rochelle Mayor John Bearrows is shown speaking at the ceremony at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. He spoke of the purpose of Wreaths Across America to "Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom." Next, wreaths were presented for each branch of service by a veteran or family member of a veteran. The ceremony concluded with a benediction by Father Jesus Dominguez, salutes by the Knights of Columbus and the Ogle-Lee Honor Guard and the playing of TAPS. A total of over 750 wreaths were placed at the ceremonies which also included Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston, Daysville Cemetery in Oregon, and Lawnridge & Trinity Cemeteries in Rochelle.
