DEKALB — Junior Cassidy Vincent secured All-Conference First Team honors for the third straight season Monday afternoon, when the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team competed in the six-team Interstate 8 Conference Championship tournament at Mardi Gras Lanes.

Vincent finished 12th in the tournament and led the Lady Hubs with a 1,047 series over six games, shooting a 576 series with a high score of 223 over the final three games of the meet. Rochelle (10-6, 6-4 Interstate 8) took fifth as a team in the tournament with a final score of 5,595 and brought home a fourth-place finish for the season. Sophomore Kylie McCullough rolled a 955 series and earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention for the second straight season.

“It was one of my goals for this year to keep up with the rest of the girls in our conference,” Vincent said. “Every team has amazing bowlers and I knew that was where I wanted to stay… I was a lot more involved mechanically between last season and this season. I also feel like my attitude has changed a lot and I feel like I’ve been able to be with my team and enjoy it more.”

McCullough rolled a 955 series over six games with a 503 series during the first half of the tournament. Senior Kenzie Liezert recorded a 972 series over six games, throwing a 537 series with a high score of 182 over the second half of the tournament. Senior Faith Adams added a 922 series over six games, shooting a 487 series and a 184 high score over the second half.

Seniors Anahi Alanis and Dalila Garcia rounded out the Rochelle roster with six-game series scores of 865 and 834, respectively. Alanis rolled a high score of 172 and Garcia followed with a high score of 167 for the Lady Hubs, who will travel for the IHSA Rockford East Regional at Don Carter Lanes on Saturday. Freshman Ava Norris led the Rochelle Lady Hub JV bowling team in the conference tournament, rolling a 719 six-game series to place eighth as an individual.

“Knowing that we made it out of the regional last year, I think that will help us be in a better mood,” Vincent said. “There might be some pressure, but we have hope and a drive to keep going. We want to make it to sectionals as a team again and we all want to experience that again this year because we have so many seniors who are on the team this year.”
