ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team celebrated Senior Night on Friday, when the purple and white hosted Belvidere for its final dual matchup of the 2023-24 season.

Senior Kenzie Liezert led the Lady Hubs with a 441 series, while senior Anahi Alanis followed with a 436 series as Rochelle fell to the Bucs 2,993-2,341 in nonconference action. Sophomore Kylie McCullough totaled a 433 series and senior Faith Adams rolled a 415 series for the Lady Hubs (10-6, 6-4 Interstate 8), who will travel for the Interstate 8 Conference meet on Monday. Rochelle will then travel for the IHSA Rockford East Regional at Don Carter Lanes on Feb. 3.

“I’m proud that we had five seniors out this year,” head coach Eric Widick said. “It’s always tough to see our seniors go. I think we’ve had a lot of good matches recently and I think we’re progressing well. If we keep going on the trajectory we’re headed, we should do very well at the conference meet. We’re in a tough regional, but we have the ability and we’ll see what we do. We need to bowl as a team and we need to keep everybody up and not get down on ourselves.”

Five seniors including Faith Adams, Anahi Alanis, Kenzie Liezert, Dalila Garcia and Lily Owen were recognized in a ceremony before the match on Friday evening. Belvidere won the opening game 936-848 behind a 181 from Jasper Baker and a 178 from Mia Quintera. Alanis led the Lady Hubs with a 169 in the first game, while junior Cassidy Vincent fired a 159 for Rochelle.

The Bucs cruised over the Lady Hubs 1,039-769 in the second game, with Baker shooting a 209 and Zoe Gehrke adding a 178. Liezert bowled a 149 and Alanis rolled a 140 in the second game for the Lady Hubs, who fell in the third game 1,018-724 to concede the nonconference series. Baker fired a 222 to finish the match with a 612 series on the Belvidere side, while the Bucs saw Elisa Guarnnaccia total a 220. Adams shot a 153 to lead the Lady Hubs in the third game.
