Flagg Township Museum to host reception for Freedom of Faith exhibit Feb. 24

ROCHELLE — As part of our plan for the year at the museum we’ll be celebrating birthdays all year long. In February and March we celebrate the 233rd birthday of the Bill of Rights, with an exhibit in our Cabinet of Curiosities, Freedom of Faith, Places of Worship in Rochelle. The Bill of Rights is the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution, spelling out Americans’ rights in relation to their government. It guarantees civil rights and liberties to the individual — like freedom of speech, press, and religion, protecting the right to religious beliefs and practices.

The Freedom of Faith, Places of Worship in Rochelle exhibit recognizes many of our places of worship, some that date back to the 1850s. A reception with refreshments will be held on Feb. 24 from 1-4 p.m. at the museum.

We hope to celebrate many birthdays during 2023 including Rochelle banks, schools, and people. If you have information or artifacts or stories about any of these topics give us a call (815 562-3040), email (hubhistory@gmail.com), or come visit. The museum is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The mission of the Flagg Township Historical Society and Museum is to stimulate interest in Flagg Township history through education, research, collection and preservation of information for the benefit of the public of today and in the future.
