The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team snapped a two-match losing streak on Thursday, when the purple and white hosted Streator in nonconference action. Senior Christian Thorne fired a team-high 612 series, while sophomore Andrew Powell added a 567 series as the Hubs defeated the Bulldogs 3,245-2,959 at T-Byrd Lanes. Rochelle (9-6, 4-3 Interstate 8) will bowl at the Freeport Sport Shot Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team snapped a two-match losing streak on Thursday, when the purple and white hosted Streator in nonconference action. Senior Christian Thorne fired a team-high 612 series, while sophomore Andrew Powell added a 567 series as the Hubs defeated the Bulldogs 3,245-2,959 at T-Byrd Lanes. Rochelle (9-6, 4-3 Interstate 8) will bowl at the Freeport Sport Shot Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Hubs held the series lead after a 1,044-993 win in the first game. Junior Logan Frye rolled a series-best 192 to lead the Rochelle side, while sophomore Declan McGee followed with a series-best 191. The Hubs extended their series lead with a 1,089-1,005 win in the second game, where sophomore Levi Waddle threw a series-best 209 and Thorne totaled a 206. Jaxin Goodrich fired a series-best 217 to lead the Streator side in the second game.

Rochelle sealed its nonconference sweep against the Bulldogs with an 1,112-961 win in the third and final game of the series. Thorne led the Hubs with a series-best 233 in the final game, while Powell rolled a series-best 200 and McGee chipped in a 186. Frye recorded a 181 in the third game to finish with a 552 series on the Rochelle side, while Waddle ended the match with a 546 series after a 164 in the final game.
