The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub varsity bowling teams competed at the annual Cavalier Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Hubs finished sixth out of 12 schools with a final score of 5,500, while the Lady Hubs took fifth out of 11 schools with a final score of 4,326.

PERU — The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub varsity bowling teams competed at the annual Cavalier Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Hubs finished sixth out of 12 schools with a final score of 5,500, while the Lady Hubs took fifth out of 11 schools with a final score of 4,326.

Hubs

Sophomore Andrew Powell finished 12th out of 77 bowlers in the individual standings, firing an 1,183 series with a high score of 237 during the sixth and final round. Junior Logan Frye landed in 13th with an 1,150 series and a high score of 257 during the fourth round, while senior Sam Tracey took 19th with an 1,131 series and a high score of 223 during the second round.

Rochelle opened the tournament with scores of 914, 919 and 868 over the first three rounds of team action. Frye’s 216 and Tracey’s 212 propelled the Hubs during the opening round, while Tracey’s 223 and Powell’s 194 were the high scores during the second round. Senior Christian Thorne delivered a 209 to lead the Rochelle team during the third round of the tournament.

The Hubs bowed out of the tournament with scores of 1,032, 846 and 921 over the final three rounds. Thorne spearheaded the Rochelle team with a tournament-best 241 during the fourth round, while Frye scored a tournament-best 257. Powell’s 184 and sophomore Levi Waddle’s tournament-best 181 were the high scores during the fifth round, while Powell’s 237 and Tracey’s 198 were the high scores for the Hubs during the sixth and final round of the event.

Lady Hubs

Junior Cassidy Vincent finished eighth out of 61 bowlers in the individual standings, firing a 1,029 series with a high score of 181 during the third round. Sophomore Kylie McCullough landed in 15th with a 917 series and a high score of 166 in the sixth round, while senior Faith Adams took 27th with an 816 series and a high score of 180 during the third round. 

Rochelle opened the tournament with scores of 668, 612 and 787 over the first three rounds of team action. Vincent’s 177 and McCullough’s 143 were the high scores during the first round, while Vincent’s 179 and a 134 from senior Anahi Alanis were the high scores during the second round. Vincent shot a 181 and Adams rolled a 180 for the Lady Hubs during the third round.

Rochelle concluded the tournament with scores of 745, 736 and 778 over the final three rounds. Vincent’s 161 and McCullough’s 150 were the high scores during the fourth round, while McCullough’s 166 and Vincent’s 165 were the high scores during the fifth round. McCullough fired a tournament-best 210 and Vincent rolled a 166 to lead Rochelle during the sixth round.
