ROCHELLE — With last month’s stretch of school cancellations, Rochelle Township High School’s graduation date will remain the same as planned — Saturday, May 25.
Supt. Jason Harper said state laws mandate each school district include five emergency days on the calendar. Any days of the school cancellations would have to be made up at the end of the school year. Originally, the last day for RTHS students was scheduled for Wednesday, May 22; so far school has been cancelled seven days — one in November and the rest in January.
“We will only make up five of these days. That puts our last day of the school year on Thursday, May 30,” Harper said. “Finals for Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen will take place on Tuesday, May 28, Wednesday, May 29 and Thursday, May 30. We will follow the typical final exam day schedule.”
He added administration is working on finalizing plans and dates for senior students and the start of summer school and will make an announcement when available.
Dates are as follows: Graduation — Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. in the main gym; and graduation practice — Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m. in the main gym.
