Kishwaukee College’s Westmeyer honored by Illinois CPA

CHICAGO – The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Everett Westmeyer, instructor at Kishwaukee College in Malta, with a 2017 Outstanding Educator Award. Westmeyer was recognized for significant contributions to accounting education in Illinois through leadership, teaching excellence and active involvement in the accounting profession.
He received the award on Wednesday, June 7 at the Illinois CPA Society’s annual Leadership Recognition Dinner in Chicago.

Westmeyer holds both holds CPA and CGMA certifications. While working in the profession before becoming a classroom instructor, Westmeyer has focused on trying to make accounting more accessible and easier to understand.
“When I transitioned into higher education from industry, I only had one goal – to make a difference in the lives of all of the students who passed through my classroom,” Westmeyer said. “I bring real world examples into the classroom to help students make connections and understand the material on a deeper level.”
