K-Kids volunteer at The Kitchen Table

ROCHELLE — Several young students in the HUB Project spent a few hours helping others at The Kitchen Table earlier this week.

The group of elementary students in K-Kids, sponsored by the Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K, volunteered with several duties including taking orders, serving beverages, and taking food to guests.

Jodee Craven, HUB Project manager, along with K-Kids advisor Elisa Rubeck and Golden K member/advisor Dennis Swinton remarked how well the youngsters accomplished their tasks with a smiling face.

“They all had different jobs…greeted people, took orders, delivered food, served drinks, and bussed tables. They all enjoyed eating together at the end of their shift,” Rubeck said. “It was absolutely heartwarming to watch how much the K-Kids enjoyed helping others! Mr. Swinton, Mrs. Craven, and I were all so proud of their hard work and how kind they were to everyone at The Kitchen Table.”

Craven noted that the students are very eager to volunteer again, mentioning the excitement they all showed and how well they did.

“The people loved it, the kids were good…people were happy. I enjoyed it,” Swinton added.
