Children’s shopping trip successful thanks to community

Posted

Dear Editor,
The Rochelle Community Action Network would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Rochelle community for their continued loyalty in supporting the CAN Children’s Christmas Shopping Trip.
This year, because of the generosity of local individuals, civic groups, businesses and community groups, we were able to provide a $75 gift card for approximately 175 Rochelle children. Along with our donated used coats, again this year we were able to buy new coats through Operation Warm Coats.
Again, this year, we celebrated the season by providing a spaghetti dinner and a fresh salad with LOCAL produce. Thank you to Alfano’s Pizza and MightyVine for the donations that created a healthy family dinner. The Hub City Cruisers also provided toys to be handed out at the event.

Again, this year, the Lee-Ogle Transportation System provided a fun and safe shuttle service for our children and the adult shoppers. Thank you LOTS for assisting with another successful year.
It is wonderful to see those who had enough provide for those who did not. This is the community spirit of Rochelle. We could not offer this program without the generous commitment of financial support and volunteers who make it possible. Thank you all for your giving spirit. You have made Christmas brighter for many Rochelle children.
Special thanks to: Hub City Cruisers, Alfano’s Pizzeria, Mighty Vine, Lee-Ogle Transportation System (LOTS), CAN Elves- Gwen Marie, Sandy Mace, Sandy Moellering and Sandy Mannel, RTHS Student Council, Rochelle Rotary, Walmart, LULAC, Rochelle Fire Department, Dawn and Brian Johnson, Jimmy and Paula Combs, Ray and Barb Reineck, James and Linda Crouch, Terry and Jacqueline Dickow, Golden K, Richard and Marilyn Overby, Rochelle Chiropractic Clinic, Hayden Real Estate, Spin and Karen Hayden, John and Judy Slattengren, T-Byrd Lanes, Judith Connolly, Joseph and Dawn Peters, Ronald and Gail Schabacker, Cheri McGee, Renee and Mikayla Preston, Casey Farms, Donna Shaw, Susan Barkman, Dennis and Janet Stewart, Clarence MacTaggart, Lyle and Joan Hayes, Thomas and Cebra Kersten, Anderson Plumbing and Heating, Shirley LeMar, Joy Phillips, Marilyn Johnson, Joanne Mayes, Lynette Burch, Helen Worley, Terri Schaefer, Carol and John Pluemer, Don and Judith Hayes, Shane Huber, Carolyn Ackland, Dean and Linda Cater, Jo Ann and David Orr, Arlen and Barbara Harms, Petro, Jon and Evelyn Hintzsche, Carolyn Bieck, Tim and Karen Cech, Dale and Patricia Carroll, Paul Stavrakas, Lawrence, Gladys, Jerry and Donna Tastad, Eva Medine, Sue Sawicki, Linda Whitener, Kathy Pfeiffer, Paul Lower, Friendly Society, Nancy Henna, Dennis and Kathy Connor, Robert and Margaret Streit, Pat Burch, Holcomb Bank, Dennis and Magdalene Barrainger, Rochelle Hospital Bake Sale, Rabbits Foot, Sam Graber Insurance, Margaret and Douglas Oleson, LeRoy and Dorine Shoemaker, Harvey and Mary Folkerts, Debbie and Kevin Howard, Robert and Jacqueline Bennett, Rochelle Service Club, Janet Stahlheber, Karen Gardell, Central Bank, Rochelle Lions Club, First State Bank, Dale Meyers, Bob and Jeri Johns, Emily Whitaker and Al and Hollie Duthie.
