Local athletes earn top finishes in freestyle and greco tournaments

FRANKLIN, Wis. — The Forge Wrestling Club sent several athletes to the 2024 Franklin Spring Classic Freestyle & Greco-Roman tournaments on Saturday, April 6. Eight athletes participated in the greco-roman tournament and seven athletes competed in the freestyle tournament.

Greco-Roman

Kaiden Morris finished first in the 11th-12th Boys 194-215 Division with a 3-0 record. Morris won all three matches via technical fall, defeating Ringers Wrestling Club’s Nathaniel Grooms 9-0, BTS-Chicago/Midway’s Alex Dress 8-0 and Alpha Wrestling Academy’s Karlondo Dubiose 9-1.

Joshua Lassiter finished first in the 9th-10th Boys 145-151 Division with a 3-0 record. Lassiter scored a 9-0 technical fall over Englewood’s Maurice Bush before notching 8-0 technical falls over Little Chute’s Aydian Stingle and Askren Wrestling Academy’s Skyler Blockwitz.

Nehemiah Andronic finished first in the 3rd-4th Boys 65-69 Division with a 2-0 record, earning a 12-4 technical fall over Ringers Wrestling Club’s Nicholas Friess and an 11-8 decision over Englewood’s Kaiel Coleman. Christopher O’Neill took third in the 9th-10th Boys 165-170 Division with an 0-2 record and Hadley Losoya took third in the 9th-10th Boys 130-136 Division with a 1-2 record, scoring a 9-0 technical fall against Illinois wrestler Chris Burgos.

AJ Milan took third in the 7th-8th Boys 98-106 Division with a 1-2 record, winning over Askren Wrestling Academy’s Ian Proctor by disqualification. Benjamin Morris placed fourth in the 7th-8th Boys 145-152 Division with a 1-2 record, earning an 8-0 technical fall over Southside Lutheran’s Ryan Ruffolo. Joshua Hernandez placed fourth in the 7th-8th Boys 91-97 Division with an 0-3 record.

Freestyle

Nehemiah Andronic finished first in the 3rd-4th Boys 67-72 Division with a 3-0 record, scoring 10-0 technical falls over Ringers Wrestling Club’s Nicholas Friess and Lodi Wrestling Club’s Jace Caves as well as a 10-6 decision against Wisconsin’s Alonzo Rodriguez. 

Joshua Lassiter finished first in the 9th-10th Boys 143-151 Division with a 3-0 record, earning an 11-1 technical fall over Askren’s Greyson Tonsor as well as a 14-4 technical fall over Little Chute’s Aydien Stingle and an 11-8 decision against Wisconsin’s Gavin Pickering. 

Christopher O’Neill took fourth in the 9th-10th Boys 170-175 Division, while Trayvon Rucker took fourth in the 9th-10th Boys 130-138 Division and Hadley Losoya took fourth in the 9th-10th Boys 127-135 Division. Joshua Hernandez took fourth in the 7th-8th Boys 97-107 Division and AJ Milan took fourth in the 7th-8th Boys 95-103 Division.
