Police Reports

On April 23 at approximately 4:21 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in the 500 block of West Flagg Road for a traffic violation. While the deputy’s lights and sirens were activated, the vehicle, a blue Genesis passenger car, sped away and refused to stop. The deputy observed the vehicle traveling 35 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour. The deputy initially lost sight of the vehicle before locating it, which had crashed near the intersection of Rock Nation and Lost Nation Roads. The driver was identified as Andrew Gonzales, 22, of Dixon. Gonzales was uninjured in the crash and was placed under arrest for aggravated fleeing to elude (class-four felony) and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Gonzales was additionally issued citations for disregarding a traffic control device, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle, reckless driving, speeding 35 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, and the use of an electronic communications device. Gonzales was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On April 18 at 10:25 a.m. Corey A. Labrensz, 37, of Rochelle was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He signed a promise to comply and was given a May 22 Ogle County court date.

On April 19 at approximately 4:57 p.m. deputies responded to the Stillman Valley Fire Department parking lot in reference to a domestic dispute. As a result of the investigation Amber Dodson, 31, of Stillman Valley, was placed under arrest for aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer.  Dodson was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was released with a notice to appear.

On April 16 at 8:17 a.m. Lucas R. Stinnett, 30, of Rochelle was cited for expired registration. He signed a promise to comply and was given a May 10 Rochelle court date.

On April 17 at approximately 6:02 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic a stop at the intersection of Blackhawk Road and Market Street.  After investigation, deputies placed Cassandra Ruiz, 31, of Rockford, under arrest for driving while license revoked. Ruiz was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On April 12 at 5:12 p.m. Pedro Torres Jr., 29, of Rochelle was cited for failure to yield, no insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident. He signed a promise to comply and was given a May 24 Rochelle court date.

On April 12 at approximately 10:50 a.m. deputies arrested Fazili Alonda, 27, of Rockford at the Ogle County Courthouse.  He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving on a revoked license (no bond).  He appeared in court, was released, and will return to court on May 13 at 1 p.m.

On April 9 at 3:54 p.m. Michael N. Thornhill, 36, of Rochelle was arrested on an outstanding DeKalb County warrant and transferred.

On April 10 at approximately 1 p.m., deputies responded to a pedestrian-versus-vehicle accident in the 10,000 block of West Pines Road in rural Polo.  After an investigation it was determined that David Stouffer, 69, of Polo was walking to the mailbox and entered the roadway disregarding oncoming traffic.  Stouffer was struck by a vehicle being driven by Lucy Chamberlain, 75, of Dixon. Stouffer was transported to KSB Hospital for injuries sustained. 

On April 5 at 9:15 a.m. Josh L. Godman, 27, of Dixon was cited for expired registration. He signed a promise to comply and was given a May 10 Rochelle court date.

On April 5 at 9:18 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on West Illinois Route 72 just west of North Illinois Route 26. As a result, Nicole A Sherrer, 28, of Freeport was arrested for driving while license suspended. Sherrer was additionally issued citations for expired registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Sherrer was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On April 2 at 9:31 a.m. Laura A. Woodard, 34, of Machesney Park was cited for speeding 67 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone. She signed a promise to comply and was given a May 10 Rochelle court date.

On April 2 at approximately 10:41 a.m. Kiana Smith, 33, of Aurora was arrested for an outstanding Ogle County warrant. Smith posted bond and was released with a return court date of April 26 at 9 a.m.

On March 29 at 7:35 a.m. Amber D. Rose, 37, of DeKalb was cited for disobeying a stop sign and expired registration. She signed a promise to comply and was given a May 10 Rochelle court date.

On March 30 at approximately 8:44 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 10,000 block of North Kishwaukee Road.  After an investigation, deputies arrested and cited Jackie St. John, 62, of Rockford for driving while license revoked.  St. John was additionally cited for suspended registration and no valid insurance.  St. John also had an active Boone County warrant.  St. John was transported to the Ogle County Jail where they were held in lieu of bond.  

On March 25 at 9:33 a.m. Umesh S. Patel, 49, of Elgin was cited for speeding 50 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 26 Rochelle court date.

On March 18, deputies responded to rural Monroe Center for a juvenile complaint. Upon further investigation, 18-year-old Frank J. Decena-Flores of Rochelle was arrested for criminal sexual abuse. Decena-Flores was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was detained in lieu of a court date before a judge.

On March 22 at 12:41 p.m. Alvaro E. Mireles, 60, of Rochelle was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County warrant and transferred.

On March 23 at 6:23 p.m. deputies, with the assistance of the Oregon Police Department, conducted a traffic stop at Hill Street and Illinois Route 2. After a brief investigation, Deputies arrested Joseph Mikeworth, 47, of Mendon, Illinois, for driving without a valid license. Mikeworth was released with a notice to appear. Mikeworth was additionally issued a citation for suspended registration.

On March 18 at 12:12 p.m. Justin M. Buchanan, 37, of Maple Park was cited for no seatbelt-driver, speeding 52 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone, and no insurance. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 26 Rochelle court date.

On March 18 at around 6:53 p.m. deputies responded to Benny's Corner Market in Davis Junction for the report of a retail theft of alcohol. On March 19 at 6:20 p.m. after an investigation, deputies placed Margot Jacobson, 26, of Davis Junction, and Gerald Tyszko, 46, of Davis Junction, under arrest for retail theft. Jacobson and Tyszko were taken to the Ogle County Jail and released with a notice to appear court date.

On March 15 at 12:46 p.m. Angelle C. Pottinger, 22, of Oregon was cited for no valid registration. She signed a promise to comply and was given an April 26 Rochelle court date.

On March 15 at approximately 4:32 p.m. deputies responded to a call of criminal trespass to a residence in the 800 block of North Devils Lane in rural Byron. While en route, deputies were further advised by dispatch of a domestic problem in the 5,400 block of North River Road involving the same male offender.  After investigation, deputies placed Clifford Swanson, 56, of Byron, under arrest for criminal trespass to a residence (class four felony), criminal trespass to a residence, and disorderly conduct. Swanson was additionally charged with possession of a stolen vehicle (class two felony) and criminal trespass to a vehicle.  Swanson was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was held pending a court appearance in front of a judge.

On March 12 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Melanie Humphrey, 44, of Rockford, was taken into custody on two outstanding warrants.  The warrants were both issued for failure to appear by Rockford PD and Dekalb County Sheriff's Office.  This arrest was made with the help from a tip provided to Crime Stoppers. 

On March 12 at 6:55 a.m. Mykhail O. Bartkiv, 52, of Glenview was cited for disobeying a stop sign. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 26 Rochelle court date.
