Girls Track: Lady Hubs take second at Sycamore Invitational

JV team finishes fourth during season-opening indoor meet

SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Lady Hub track and field team opened the indoor portion of the 2024 season at the Sycamore Invitational on Tuesday evening. The varsity girls took second out of eight teams with 76 points, while the JV girls finished fourth out of eight teams with 60 points. Rochelle’s next track and field event will be the Byron Indoor Preview on Saturday, March 9.

Varsity

Sophomore Ryelee Bogle led the Lady Hubs in the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, finishing fourth and seventh with respective times of 8.31 seconds and 32.25 seconds. Sophomores Rose Luxton and Mary Chadwick spearheaded the charge in the distance events, with Luxton taking third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:32.03 and Chadwick taking seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:13.90. Senior Kylie Smith turned in Rochelle’s best individual finish in the running events, placing second in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:31.41.

Sophomore Kyrie Cragin finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 11.83 seconds. Rochelle took second in the 1600-meter relay (Zoe White, Arline Villanueva, Kyrie Cragin and Kylie Smith) with a time of 4:56.75 and second in the 3200-meter relay (Brisa Zepeda, Mary Chadwick, Emely Hernandez and Rose Luxton) with a time of 12:43.83. Rochelle placed sixth in the 640-meter relay (Ryelee Bogle, Zoe White, Dempsey Atkinson and Kylie Smith) in 1:47.75.

Senior Kyra Bivins and junior Aaliyah Losoya led the Lady Hubs in the shot put, finishing fourth and fifth with respective heaves of 8.85 and 8.25 meters. Junior Dempsey Atkinson took second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.47 meters and sophomore Rose Luxton took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 4.04 meters. Senior Kennedy Adamski finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 8.75 meters and fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.34 meters.

Junior Varsity

Freshmen Elyse Manning and Ashley Christy led the Lady Hubs in the sprinting events, with Manning taking fourth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.76 and Christy finishing sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 33.06. Freshman Jasmine Walsh took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:16.20 and junior Bridgett Ramirez finished sixth in the 800-meter run in 3:39.42.

Sophomore Samantha Overton finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 13.82. The Lady Hubs took second in the 640-meter relay (Katie Toczylowski, Reese Kissack, Abygail Losoya and Valerie Saldana) with a time of 1:41.21 and second in the 1600-meter relay (Elyse Manning, Paris Washington, Reese Kissack and Jasmine Walsh) with a time of 5:20.98.

Freshman Elena Daugherty took second in the triple jump with a distance of 7.87 meters. Junior Erin Murphy finished fifth in the shot put with a heave of 8.04 meters and sophomore Carmela Bright took third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.22 meters.
