GENESEO — Rochelle wrestler Caleb Nadig medaled at the IWCOA 2A Geneseo Sectional on Saturday, finishing second in the 138-pound bracket and qualifying for the IWCOA 2A State Championship meet at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Springfield this coming week.
Nadig (22-3) received a first-round bye before dominating Galesburg’s Alex Baughman in the second round, recording an 18-3 technical fall at the 3:08 mark. Nadig faced Hampshire’s Niko Skoulikaris in the semifinals, controlling the match and finishing with another 18-3 technical fall to advance to the championship bout. In a rematch from the IWCOA 2A Rock Island Super Regional, Nadig battled Rock Island’s Aoci Bernard in the finals, falling by 6-4 sudden victory.
The IWCOA 2A State Championship meet will begin Friday, June 25 at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Springfield.
