Andronic, Escatel represent Junior Hubs at tournament in Bedford Park

BEDFORD PARK — The Rochelle Wrestling Club sent two athletes to the 2023 Illinois Midget Championships at the Wintrust Sports Complex over the weekend. Nehemiah Andronic and Dominic Escatel competed in the three-day tournament that ran from March 17-19. 

Escatel competed in the Boys Midget 76 Division and went 1-2 over three bouts. Escatel opened the tournament with a 9-4 decision over Bolingbrook’s Easton Breen to advance into the second round, where Escatel conceded a fall against Yorkville’s Robert Martino. Escatel faced off with Channahon’s Ryan Stuart in the consolation bracket, falling just short by 6-2 decision. 

Andronic went 0-2 over two bouts in the Boys Midget 59 Division. Andronic faced Tribe Wrestling’s Maddox Martinez in the first round of the championship bracket, conceding a fall before battling against Demolition Wrestling’s Padraig Brady, losing by 9-3 decision.
