ROCHELLE — Stanley George Meister, 89, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at Rochelle Rehab and Healthcare Center.
He was born on May 15, 1928 in the Sublette Hospital in Sublette to George and Alta Bernice (Jones) Meister. He married Agnes Grothen on Oct. 1, 1960 in LaMoille Clarion Lutheran Church.
Stanley worked for many years at Swift at a meat cutter prior to retiring. He enjoyed fishing and loved gardening. Stanley especially enjoyed his onions and radishes.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Tom Grothen.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Agnes; nieces and nephews, Henry “Hank” (Christine) Grothen, Brenda (Dr. David) O’Donnell, and Julie Schmidt; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 10-10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., in Rochelle. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Hoffmann officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Ashton Cemetery.
