STERLING — After a furious rally to top the Sterling Golden Warriors on Monday, the Hubs sophomore baseball team dropped a close game on the road by a score of 4-3 to even the conference series and drop Rochelle to 12-8-1 overall.
Brandon Johnson took the ball to start the game on Tuesday, firing five and one-third innings while striking out nine batters. Louie Mancinas finished on the mound, throwing one and one-third innings and striking out one.
Three Hub hitters drove in one run including Johnson, Hayden Jones and Cody Johnson. Mason DeLille went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Zack Bernardin and Anthony Hueramo also notched hits.
The sophomores will play Sterling on Thursday to try and take the series.
