ROCHELLE — Skydivers and those interested in what it is all about are welcome to attend the annual CSC Safety Day on Saturday, March 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge to attend.

The event features seminars and training drills intended to not only be a refresher course but also as an introduction to any new developments, equipment, disciplines and training methods.

“This is an annual event for us, but we would like to invite any locals who might want to learn more about what we do,” said Doug Smith, CSC President and CEO. “There will be different presenters throughout the afternoon.”

The presentation will cover topics such as aircraft and incident procedures, safety, emergencies, dropzone operations, canopy flight rules, gear checks and equipment maintenance.

The annual event was established by the U.S. Parachute Association in 1997 to focus on preparing the jumpers for the year ahead as well as the safety aspects. Novice and seasoned jumpers are welcome to attend the event to brush up on basic skills and learn new procedures.

Lunch will be provided by the Flight Deck Bar and Grill.

CSC is requesting guests RSVP so they may know how many people to expect. The option to RSVP is available through the event’s Facebook page, “2019 CSC Safety Day.”

The Chicagoland Skydiving Center’s doors will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16. Guests are welcome to stop by the pro shop to fill out the 2019 waiver; there is also an option to sign the waiver online. Bring any used gear to sell or swap.

At 11:30, Smith will present “State of the DZ (DropZone),” by reviewing 2018 and discussing the 2019 jumping season as well as any important updates and changes.

At 12:30 the group will break for lunch, followed with Safety Day seminars beginning at 1 p.m.

The event will conclude at 2:45 with the final words and a prize drawing. Guests are welcome to stay and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Flight Deck Bar and Grill.
