Local tennis players of all ages gathered at Rochelle Township High School on Saturday for the 2021 Rochelle Summer Tennis Tournament. Several winners were crowned across multiple divisions including men’s, women’s, senior, adult, high school and junior high.

Several winners crowned across multiple divisions

ROCHELLE — Local tennis players of all ages gathered at Rochelle Township High School on Saturday for the 2021 Rochelle Summer Tennis Tournament. Several winners were crowned across multiple divisions including men’s, women’s, senior, adult, high school and junior high.

Rockford’s Chris Voelker and John McKenzie won the Men’s Doubles title with 24 points while Oregon’s Andy Eckardt and Cherry Valley’s Steve Merema took second place with 12 points. Rochelle’s Lizzie Cartwright and Oregon’s Kristy Eckardt won the Women’s Doubles title with 18 points while Freeport’s Stephanie Dinderman and Stephanie Waddell took second with 14.

Kristy Eckardt won the Women’s Singles title with 24 points while Naperville’s Samantha Hathaway took second with 16 points. South Beloit’s Jordan Fenwick won the Men’s Singles title with 23 points, edging out Rockford’s Matt Trowbridge, who took second place with 23 points.

Freeport’s Stephanie Dinderman and Ed Schradermeier won the Adult Mixed title with 25 points while Andy Eckardt and Kristy Eckardt took second place with 24 points. John McKenzie and Matt Trowbridge won the Senior Doubles title with 22 points while Rochelle’s John Prabhakar and Roy Threlkeld took second place with 13 points. Geneseo’s Alex Slaymaker and Sam Mosbarger won the High School Boys Doubles title with 31 points while Rochelle Township High School’s David Wanner and Peter Forsberg took second place with 21 points.

Geneseo’s Grace Schilling and Aubrey Brumbaugh won the High School Girls Doubles title with 15 points while Rochelle’s Lauren Jackson and Francesca Williams took second with eight points. Peru’s Carlie Miller won the High School Girls Singles title with 23 points, while Brumbaugh took second with 15 points. Alex Slaymaker won the High School Boys Singles title with 28 points while Sycamore’s Jon Locascio took second with 20 points. 

Oregon’s Sarah Eckardt won the Junior High title with 12 points while Sycamore’s Luke Curtis took second with 11 points. Oregon’s David Eckardt finished in third place with seven points.
