BELVIDERE — A victory over Belvidere Central this past Thursday set the Rochelle Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team with a semifinal game against Sycamore on Saturday in the final phase of the North Central Junior Conference Tournament.
The girls lost a hard-fought game to Sycamore by a score of 38-24. Afi Gati recorded her second consecutive tournament double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Morgan Haas added six points to help lead the RMS attack.
Rochelle came within four points of beating DeKalb Huntley for third place, but the Royals wound up falling just short by a score of 37-33. Bella Lodico totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds in the game, with Sofia Lenkaitis adding seven points. The eighth grade team finished the season with an overall record of 10-9.
