On July 3, at 8:10 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of South IL Route 251 for an equipment violation. After an investigation and assistance from the Ogle County K9 Unit, Paul Washington III, 29, of Rockford, was arrested for possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis 10-30 grams. Washington was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
On July 3, at approximately 11:44 p.m., deputies responded to a car versus motorcycle accident at the intersection of Illinois Route 26 and Freeport Road. An investigation revealed that a vehicle being driven by James Mumford, 72, of Windsor, was turning left onto IL Route 26 from Freeport Road at which time it entered the path of a southbound motorcycle being driven by Justin Burton, 34, of Forreston. Burton was transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital by Forreston EMS and was later flown to Mercy Hospital in Rockford for treatment of injuries. James Mumford and a passenger in the vehicle, Joyce Mumford, 69, also of Windsor, were transported to Freeport Memorial Hospital by Polo EMS for treatment of injuries. James Mumford was cited for failure to yield. The accident remains under investigation.
July 4
