Burciaga receives Spencer Sanderson Award for service

ROCHELLE — Rochelle Little League celebrated its 70th anniversary during Saturday morning’s Opening Day Ceremony at Floyd J. Tilton Park. The ceremony included two performances of the national anthem from Major League Softball President Kevin Behrens and Rochelle Township High School music students.

Players also came together for the Little League Pledge and longtime umpire Albert Burciaga received the Spencer Sanderson Award for his service to Rochelle Little League. Burciaga and Rochelle Mayor John Bearrows tossed the ceremonial first pitches and the ceremony concluded with the annual T-shirt toss for the children.
