ROCHELLE — Airman First Class Donnie Harmon visited the Great Beginnings pre-k classes at Lincoln School on Friday, Nov. 1.
Harmon spoke with students about his duties as an Airman First Class. Teacher Margaret Taylor engaged the children in conversation, reminding them of the recent unit on branches of the military.
Harmon, a graduate of Rochelle Township High School, left for Basic Military Training on Nov. 27, 2018 and completed that training on Jan. 25, 2019.
Since, Harmon has completed Aircrew Fundamentals (Feb. 14, 2019); Basic Loadmaster Course (March 21, 2019) and was Awarded Distinguished Graduate for recognition of outstanding Academic Achievement and became Airman First Class; completed Emergency Parachute and Water Survival training (April 3, 2019); completed SERE (May 3, 2019); and completed C-130J Loadmaster training, becoming a qualified loadmaster, on Oct. 9, 2019.
Students in the pre-k classes collected candy for Harmon to send in care packages.
Harmon’s mother, Laura, also sends care packages to troops regularly.
