HILLCREST — Patrick Roy Hillyer, 49, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at his home after a short battle with ALS.
He was born on July 6, 1969 in Streator, the son of Lee Roy and Phyllis (Clement) Hillyer. He married Georgean Andrea Price on Dec. 29, 1990 in Ottawa.
Patrick served in the Illinois National Guard and graduated from N.I.U. He then worked at N.I.U. in DeKalb for more than 25 years, as their network engineer.
He also concurrently worked at Tom Sparks Automotive as their IT expert for more than 25 years. He was great with computers and was interested in photography, most recently focusing on his son’s Little League games.
Patrick enjoyed attending Heartland Church and treasured spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Hillyer; and sister, Deborah Hillyer.
He is survived by his wife, Georgean Hillyer; six children, Christopher Patrick (Megan) Hillyer of Carol Stream, Joseph Hillyer of Sycamore, and Jessica, Aaliyah, Joshua and Alexandrea Hillyer all of Rochelle; brother, Timothy Hillyer of Collinsville; sister, Valarie (Alec) Bailes of Wenona; sister-in-law, Rose Hillyer of Streator, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle, with Rev. Todd Johnson officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the care of his daughter.
