The recreation center proposed by the Flagg-Rochelle Park District would be a terrific addition to life in the Rochelle area it seems to me. It would add to our physical well-being giving all of us a convenient place to exercise and it would add to our sense of community to see and be with other area residents.

OPINION: Supports plans for rec center

Posted

Dear Editor,
The recreation center proposed by the Flagg-Rochelle Park District would be a terrific addition to life in the Rochelle area it seems to me. It would add to our physical well-being giving all of us a convenient place to exercise and it would add to our sense of community to see and be with other area residents.
The central location proposed would make it accessible to all of us. I applaud the inclusion of an aquatic center even though that is envisioned as Phase II. A facility like this has been discussed and planned for many years and it is exciting to think that it may actually happen in the near future.

I would prefer to see the park board vote to move ahead with this right away to save on construction costs as each time it is delayed costs go up. But I anticipate overwhelming public support for the new recreation center when the public votes on funding for it in April.
Please join me in supporting the center by not signing a petition to require a public referendum.
Sincerely,
Kathy Hollonbeck
