Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Jan. 13-16, 2023

OREGON — On Jan. 13 at 9:18 p.m. deputies, with assistance from the Oregon Police Department, conducted a traffic stop at North Illinois Route 2 and Margaret Fuller Road. After a brief investigation, Duane Johnson Meadows, 29, of St. Paul, Minnesota, was arrested for driving while license revoked. Johnson Meadows was also issued a citation for speeding. Johnson Meadows was subsequently transported to Ogle County Jail, where he was held in lieu of bond.
On Jan. 13 at 10:48 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Illinois Route 2 at Pines Road for an equipment violation. After an investigation, James Lard, 30, of Rockford, was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license. Lard was also cited for no registration light. Lard was released on a signature I-Bond with a return court date.
On Jan. 13 at approximately 6:59 a.m. deputies responded to the 2,800 block of South Illinois Route 2 in regards to the report of a hit and run property damage accident. After a brief investigation, James Catalano Jr., 70, of Grand Detour, was located and arrested for leaving the scene of an accident. Catalano was also cited for no insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Catalano was transported to the Ogle County Jail and was later released on a recognizance bond. Catalano is due to appear in Ogle County court at a later date.
On Jan. 13 at approximately 12:04 p.m. deputies, along with Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS and Rochelle EMS, responded to the 18,000 block of East Illinois Route 64 for the report of a two-vehicle accident. During an initial investigation, deputies discovered an eastbound Ford Escape, driven by Michael S. Tobeck, 47, of Fulton, had crossed the centerline entering the westbound lane of traffic. Tobeck’s vehicle struck a westbound Freightliner semi-truck, operated by Tyler L. Benson, 18, of Genoa. Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS transported Tobeck to Javon Bea hospital on Riverside. Tobeck had non-life-threatening injuries that required medical attention. Rochelle EMS transported Benson to Rochelle Community Hospital for minor injuries. This accident remains under investigation.
On Jan. 14 at approximately 7:55 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 10,000 block of West Pines Road. After an investigation, Eric J. Deery, 42, of Amboy, was placed under arrest for driving while license revoked without a BAIID when required. Deery was also cited for speeding. Deery was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held, awaiting an appearance before a judge.
On Jan. 16 at 11:06 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at West Illinois Route 72 and North Adeline Road. As a result, Robert J. Phinnessee, 47, of Rockford was arrested for driving on a revoked license. Phinnessee was also issued a citation for illegal window tint. Phinnessee was transported to the Ogle County Jail and released to jail staff.
All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
