STEWARD — There were no injuries in a barn fire near Steward on Thursday.
Rochelle, Steward and Flagg Center Fire Departments responded to the afternoon call at 1912 Melugins Grove Rd.
Rochelle Fire Chief Dave Sawlsvile said the fire started from an ember off a brush burn pile feet away from the barn.
“It’s just been super dry,” Sawlsville said. “The owner said he turned his back for a minute. There were visible flames when crews got here.”
