Man arrested for driving under influence

On Sept. 20, at 12:24 p.m., following a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Washington Street in Oregon, Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kirk Shenberger, 67, of Dakota, for driving under the influence. Shenberger was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
Sept. 21
On Sept. 21, at approximately 7:08 p.m., Ogle County deputies, along with Oregon Police Department, Oregon Fire Department and Oregon EMS responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 4000 block of East Illinois Route 64. After an investigation, it was learned that a sliver Oldsmobile, driven by Darwin R. Kirchner, 87, of Oregon, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle. Kirchner was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Esther Kirchner was transported to KSB hospital by Oregon EMS for minor injuries.
On Sept. 21, at approximately 7:36 a.m., deputies responded to the 11000 block of West White Eagle Road in reference to a one vehicle accident involving injuries. After arriving on scene, deputies learned a 2006 Ford F-250 driven by Loran Wilken, 78, of Leaf River, was traveling eastbound when it lost control on the gravel road. The pickup truck then traveled off of the north side of the road way before overturning several times in the cornfield before coming to rest. The accident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on Sept. 20, and wasn’t located until 7:36 a.m. on Sept. 21. Wilken sustained serious injuries and was transported to FHN Memorial Hospital by EMS. Forreston EMS and Freeport Rural EMS assisted with the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
On Sept. 21, Jamie R. Mancillas, 44, of Ashton, was arrested on a failure to register warrant. Mancillas has a bond of $50,000/10 percent. Mancillas was scheduled to appear in court Sept. 23.
