KINGSTON — Lorene G. Dreska, 87, of Kingston, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at the St. Anne Center in Rockford.
She was born Sept. 18, 1929 in Belvidere to Clyde and L. May Hueber. She married William R. Dreska on June 25, 1955.
Lorene grew up in rural Kingston. She attended Arbuckle School and Kingston High School, Class of 1947. She attended NIU and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951. She taught for two years at Yorkville and two years at Kirkland-Monroe Center schools. She did reupholstering of furniture for 36 years.
Lorene was a member of St. Catherine of Genoa Church, DeKalb County Homemakers Extension Association and the DeKalb County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include seven children, Mark (Judy) Dreska of Esmond, Susan (Douglas) Adkins of Genoa, Paul (Lisa) Dreska of Kirkland, Mary Ann (Bob) Davidson of Kingston, John (Cheryl) Dreska of Lindenwood, Karen Johnson (Leon) and Sarah (Lenard) French, both of Rockford; 22 grandchldren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Fletcher; sister-in-law, Marge Dreska; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; and two brothers, Russell and one in infancy.
Her visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 17 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott, Genoa, with Fr. Donald Ahles officiating. Burial will be at St. Catherine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to be determined at a later date in care of the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main, Genoa, IL. 60135.
