FREEPORT — The Rochelle Little League 11-12 Softball All-Stars competed in the District 19 Championship at Krape Park this past week. The girls went 1-2 over three games, topping Sterling before losing against Rock Falls and Freeport to bow out of the tournament.
Sterling
Rochelle beat up on Sterling early in the first-round matchup this past Monday, winning by a score of 15-1 to reach the second round. Rochelle scored six runs in the first inning before adding six more runs in the second inning. The girls sealed their victory with three runs in the third inning.
Addie Villalobos went 4-for-4 with three singles, one double and one run for Rochelle, while Hayvin Neale singled twice and scored two runs. Bailey Vondergathen singled in all three at-bats and scored three runs. Kenzie Liezert, Erin Murphy and Meredith Bruns each scored twice in the victory.
Rock Falls
Rochelle fell against Rock Falls this past Tuesday by a score of 14-3 in the second round to move into the consolation bracket. Rochelle plated one run in the second inning and two runs in the fourth inning. Erin Murphy, Alyssa Thompson and Bailey Vondergathen each scored once for Rochelle. Hayvin Neale reached base three times, and Kendall Frankenberry reached twice.
Freeport
Rochelle played its final tournament game this past Wednesday, losing against Freeport by a score of 21-3. Rochelle totaled four hits in the loss, with Addie Villalobos, Erin Murphy and Kenzie Liezert each finishing 1-for-2 while Abby Lara went 1-for-1.
