Kishwaukee College: A Partner in Workforce Development

Posted

While the past five months have been difficult for all Americans, small businesses in particular have borne the brunt of the recent economic downturn. Many have had to redefine themselves overnight to meet the community’s changing needs. But if you’re a business owner, you’re not alone—Kishwaukee College offers customized employee training, small business development and access to tomorrow’s workforce to help you pivot to a business model that works in today’s climate.

CUSTOMIZED EMPLOYEE TRAINING

You can transfer your credits to a four-year university when you’re ready and keep your graduation goals on track. You may not want to travel to attend college during such uncertain times, but that doesn’t mean you need to extend your timeline for graduation. Most freshmen at four-year universities take several general education courses—you can complete those requirements during a year at Kish and have more time to pursue your major and other interests after you transfer.

SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Kishwaukee College has partnered with the City of Rochelle and the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Waubonsee to help small businesses withstand the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We offer free consulting services for businesses who need help and ideas for staying afloat during these difficult times.

EMPLOYER SERVICES

As your business model has shifted, you may be in need of new employees to accommodate gaps in your workforce. Kishwaukee College can help! We offer many opportunities for employees to connect with our students, including:

On-campus job postings.

There is no charge for you to register at CollegeCentral.com/KishwaukeeCollege, a site that connects you with Kishwaukee students, alumni and community members. You can post as many jobs as you want—for free! This is a great way to build a local network and gain exposure to thousands of people who might be just the right fit for your business. And, if you’re having difficulties filling a position, we will promote it via social media and email pushes.

Career Fair.

We host an annual Back-to-School Job Fair, where you can connect with students who have the skills you need for part-time jobs, flexible schedules, temporary jobs and internships. We also host hiring events throughout the year for specific industries, which will be moved to a virtual platform as needed.

Internships.

Do you have a need for a paid or unpaid intern? If so, you can find your next intern at Kishwaukee College, where you have the unique opportunity to build your future workforce. We will send your internship position posting to students in the applicable majors.
