ROCHELLE — Judy Slattengren, 66, of Rochelle, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at her home with her family by her side. Judy was born April 13, 1952 in Howard City, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Louise Grannis.
She married John Slattengren on June 19, 1976. Her greatest accomplishment with John, the love of her life, was raising two boys who became successful Christian men.
She enjoyed working with children during her career as a speech and language pathologist. Her favorite activity was spending time with her family, especially her six grandchildren and their various activities.
She and John enjoyed traveling and vacationing together, such as trips to their homelands of Sweden, Germany, England and Scotland. She also enjoyed Bible Study Fellowship. She loved the Lord and spending time with friends.
Judy is survived by her husband, John, of Rochelle; sons, Jeff (Sara) of Rochelle and Jason (Jessica) of Des Plaines; six grandchildren, Parker, Linnaea, Josie, Caedmon, Delaney and Hudson; two brothers, Keith (Terri) of Howard City, Michigan, Bruce (Kim) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and sister-in-law, Jane Slattengren of Libertyville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle with the Reverend Dr.’s James Tilley and Doug Forsberg officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4- 7 p.m. on Thursday at Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle, and also on Friday from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle Youth Scholarship Fund. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Lawnridge Cemetery.
